Kirath and Sukhmani ensured their Jaipur wedding was a joyful affair with folksy touches and fabulous decor

The elegant Jaipur wedding of a Hyderabadi boy and a Delhi girl was brought to life by the WeddingSutra Favorites – Baraati Inc, who planned, managed and designed the entire nuptial ceremonies, while Fiestro Events lit up the venues with their charming and quirky decor.Here, the couple share some highlights of their romance and wedding celebrations captured by WeddingSutra Favorite – DotDusk Studios.

It started in March 2019 when Sukhmani was over at Hyderabad from the US for a friend’s wedding. That’s when she first met Kirath who lived in Hyderabad. For him, it was love at first sight, and they both kept the conversation flowing. Over a lot of food, and cappuccinos, they realized something had deepened between them. Sukhmani flew back to the US after the wedding. She shares, “People are always critical of long-distance relations, but when you meet the person you’re meant to spend your life with, no distance is too far.” Kirath chimes in, “It was an adventure from the moment we met! Sukhmani is a tech consultant and I am an international level skater so we are different in some ways, and so alike in others.” Somewhere between these adorable encounters, romantic moments, and a surprise date at Taj Falaknuma Palace, they found their fairytale. She was no damsel in distress, and he was no knight in shining armor. They were just two beautiful souls, two missing pieces from a puzzle, who found each other.

The bride and groom wanted their functions to be very intimate by adding a touch of their personages to all their ceremonies. The team at Baraati Inc made the larger than life concepts a reality with laudable attention to detail. The bride wanted a fairytale wedding where everything that she touched upon was brought to life. She had the best of decorations, grand outfits and a folkloric vidaai like a princess. Talking about her idea behind the concept, she explained, “My parents have always treated me like a princess. Their generous love that I have received for so many years made me want to display through my wedding.” The groom too was very supportive of the idea and added his touch to the concept by bringing quirky elements of the places he had visited, creating a beautiful wedding that’ll be remembered by everyone. All the functions were prepared, keeping in mind the adults; the planners made sure the kids too had their slice of fun at the wedding. They curated exclusive gift hampers for the kids, comprising of customised pink and blue bags full of colouring books, playdoh, chocolates, sippers, toys and a lot of fun items. They also organised movie screenings in the kids’ zone that played Home Alone, Finding Nemo and Lion King.

Since we knew that we would be having guests over from Canada who’ve never been to India, we wanted to make it extra special for them. And, thankfully, since my mom and dad are based in India, they were able to manage many trips to and fro during the planning stages. Finally, we decided upon Buena Vista Resort for its open spaces, proximity to the airport, and its serenity. Also, the resort provides individual villas to each guest with impeccable hospitality. The staff was also warm, friendly, and welcoming.”, shares Priya.

Haldi Ceremony

The celebrations began with a grand welcome of Kirath’s family by Sukhmani’s loved ones at the venue with regional tappe boliyan artists introducing members from both sides of the family. The groom’s squad wore quirky, customized t-shirts explaining their relationship with the groom. Later that day, the couple had a combined Haldi ceremony with turmeric and yellow flower petals. The venue was beautifully lit up by Fiestro Events. They matched the decor with the bride’s bright, yellow lehenga from La Robe by Shubhika.

Wedding

Their morning started early with a ‘chooda’ ceremony and a baraat procession for which all male members wore color-coordinated Nehru jackets and turbans that made us fall in love with the pictures. The Anand Karaj ritual was held at a gurudwara followed by the bridal farewell in a traditional palanquin, and it was an emotional moment when guests threw petals at the bride. Sukhmani wore a champagne color Rimple and Harpreet Narula lehenga which contrasted beautifully with her massive gourd green polki set..

Sufi Night

The grand finale of the three-day festivities concluded with a Sufi Night by Harshdeep Kaur who sang a beautiful repertoire of spiritual, poetic songs. The bride’s father, a renowned jeweller, got a stunning customised blouse made out of gold, diamond studs, and polkis for his darling daughter, which she teamed it with a skirt by Rimple and Harpreet Narula. The highlight of the function was the couple’s impressive entry on a reflective ramp fixed in the pool after taking special permissions from the property. There were fireworks in the background and more than a hundred stair-shot illuminations that lit up the entire venue

“When you get married to the person you love, be expressive, be extra, because these are the times you’ll cherish for the rest of your life.”

2. Plan a budget for the different aspects beforehand..

3. Invest in trusted and talented photographers as the memories of your big day last forever..

4. Start coordinating for the dance performances at least 3 months in advance so that everyone has enough time to prepare and you have flawless performances.

5. Go for an outfit that’s not only comfortable but also suits your personal style.

6.Most importantly, do not stress and enjoy the entire experience. When the anxiety escalates, remember that it is your day, and don’t let anything put you down.“.
